Kudos to IND mentors

  • School: Institute of Notre Dame Location: 901 Aisquith St., Baltimore Mascot: Penguins Significance of mascot: "The Emperor Penguin is defined by its rigid discipline, dedication, commitment, sense of family and self-sacrifice. It shares these characteristics with the Institute of Notre Dame that have long been hallmarks of the school. Because a mascot should be a true reflection of the spirit and culture of an institution, the penguin is a natural fit for the school as the official mascot. The penguin gives the school a mascot that embodies and represents its core values, and that makes sense now and that will in the future too."-- Heather Monroe, athletic director

A pat on the back for the uplifting story on the Institute of Notre Dame mentors ("Then, I fell in love," June 11) and compliments to the photographer Amy Davis for the picture of those beautiful smiles on the girls. So positive.

Meanwhile, a knuckle sandwich to whoever decided to waste so much space on the cannibal story. So sad and sickening.
