A 20-year-old Milford Mill woman was arrested Saturday after kidnapping a 10-month-old boy from Pikesville, Baltimore County police said Saturday.
The boy, who was unharmed when police found him about an hour after he was reported taken, has been returned to his legal guardian, police said.
Police were called about 5:15 p.m. to the home of the boy's biological mother in the 4800 block of Hawksbury Road in Pikesville, where a verbal argument had broken out between a large number of people, according to Officer Shawn Vinson, a police spokesman.
The child's legal guardian, who had been allowing the child to visit with his mother, told police that the boy was taken from an upstairs bedroom during the argument by a friend of the boy's sister.
Vinson said there has been an "ongoing custody dispute" among the boy's family members, and that's what the argument was concerning. Vinson did not know whether the boy's current legal guardian is a family member.
About an hour later, police located Kendra Nicole Gough, of the unit block of Tamers Court in Milford Mill, with the boy at the Old Court Metro Station in Pikesville, Vinson said.
Gough also had a three-inch pocket knife concealed in a backpack she was wearing, Vinson said.
The child was examined for injuries and was found to be unharmed, Vinson said.
Gough was charged with kidnapping and abducting the boy and with concealing a dangerous weapon, police said.
She is being held on a $50,000 bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center, police said.
