The line of strong thunderstorms that stretched from Virginia to Boston on Tuesday night drenched some parts of central Maryland, but added little to the region's official rain tally at BWI Marshall Airport.
The heaviest rainfall was to the northwest of Interstate 95. A look at a precipitation map from the National Weather Service's Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service shows the major highway was a precise dividing line between areas receiving a half an inch or less of rain and those receiving upward of an inch of rain.
