Two suspicious fires investigated in Havre de Grace


Fire investigators are looking into two suspicious fires involving an automobile and a motorcycle in the same Havre de Grace neighborhood, both at about the same time early Sunday morning.

One fire occurred around 2 a.m. in the passenger compartment of a 2006 Mazda 3 in the 700 block of North Adams Street, according to a notice of investigation from the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Firefighters from the Susquehanna Hose Company of Havre de Grace controlled the fire within 10 minutes.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000, damage to contents at $1,000, according to the notice of investigation.

The other fire occurred in the 600 block of Ontario Street and involved a 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200cc motorcycle.

The notice of investigation lists the time of the fire as 2:03 a.m. Susquehanna Hose Company firefighters also responded and controlled that fire in 10 minutes.

The motorcycle fire started on the passenger seat. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $1,000, according to the notice of investigation.

Both fires were discovered by passersby who notified the fire company.

Preliminary investigation lists the cause of both fires as "incendiary."
