A 23-year-old Owings Mills man stabbed his father multiple times during a fight in the family's home on Friday evening, according to Baltimore County police.

When officers arrived at the home in the unit block of Melissa Court in Owings Mills shortly after 6:30 p.m., they found the father, who is in his mid-50s, with multiple stab wounds and the son subdued, said Det. Cathy Batton, a police spokeswoman.

"I don't believe the fight was going on when (officers) arrived," Batton said.

The father was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma with non-life-threatening injuries, Batton said.

The son, who was injured when another unidentified family member attempted to break up the fight, was taken to a different area hospital, also with non-life-threatening injuries, Batton said.

Batton did not know the nature of the son's injuries late Friday. She said police plan to press charges against him upon his release from the hospital.

Neither man was identified, and the investigation was on-going, Batton said.

"We hope to have a more concrete timeline of events when (officers) are able to do all their interviews," she said.
