Youth dance

The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department's Junior Firefighters sponsor an End-of-School youth dance from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the firehouse, 6275 Old Washington Road. Tickets are $10. Savage Bluegrass plays Sam and Elsie's Bar and Restaurant in Laurel at 7 p.m. on the following dates:

Montpelier Mansion

Visitors are welcome to explore the grounds, play games, dress up in old-fashioned clothes, take a tour, learn an 18th-century dance and more from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. June 10 at Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. Saturday night movie

The North Laurel Community Center offers this monthly family event at 6 p.m. at 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road. Cost is $4, $2 for community members, and includes popcorn and drinks. Registration and information: 410-313-0390.

Art exhibit

"Living in the Human Soup," an exhibit of paintings and drawings by Mia Halton, is on view through June 2 at Tai Sophia Institute's Himmelfarb Gallery, 7750 Montpelier Road in Laurel. Laurel's mill history

"True Life: I'm a Laurel Mill Worker" is on view at the Laurel Museum, 817 Main St. The exhibit explores Laurel's history as a mill town and the community's early growth. Using an 1870s family to tell the story, it introduces visitors to the lives and experiences of the hundreds of men, women and children who worked in the town's cotton mills between the 1830s and 1929.  The exhibit includes artifacts, diaries, photos and a re-created millworker's home. Admission is free. Hours are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.

Montpelier tours

Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road, Laurel, has changed its tour times. New times are:

•Self-guided: year-round, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursdays-Tuesdays.

•Guided: Sundays at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., March-November.
