O's no! What was WJZ-TV thinking?

May 09, 2012

What was WJZ-TV thinking when they cut to "60 Minutes"Sunday evening ("How about them O's?" May 8)? Reminds us of the old "Heidi Bowl." On November 17, 1968, the Oakland Raiders scored two touchdowns in nine seconds to beat the New York Jets — and no one sees it, because they're watching the movie, "Heidi," instead. With just 65 seconds left to play, NBC switched off the game in favor of its previously scheduled programming.

Sunday, my family and I were on the edge of our seats with every pitch. History was in the making, and we got to watch the entire game on MASN. If I had not been a cable TV user and they switched to "60 Minutes" during a 17-inning game, I would be furious!

What a game. I'm sure some Channel 13 viewers are still fuming. O's magic is back, and I'm enjoying the season. Thanks, Orioles!
