Music festival

This year's Silopanna Music Festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds in Crownsville. The complete lineup will be announced June 11. For tickets and more information, go to silopannafest.com.

Volunteer center fundraiser

Annual benefit event for the Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County takes place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, May 11, at the Loews Annapolis Hotel, 126 West St. Event features music by Sparks, Raymond & McCoy, video horse racing on a large screen, "betting windows" for play-money and prizes, a two-hour open bar, food, and live and silent auction items including a Rolling Stones autographed guitar, Army-Navy football tickets, sports memorabilia and tickets, and dining packages.

Caregiver workshops

"Caring for You" workshops, offered by the Department of Aging and Disabilities, will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, 14 and 21 at the Annapolis Senior Activity Center, 119 S. Villa Ave. Workshops will deal with dementia, caring for others and caring for oneself. The free workshops will also teach behavior-management skills for everyday life. 'Going to St. Ives'

The Colonial Players present this drama about an English eye surgeon and the mother of an African dictator confronting a moral dilemma through May 19 at 108 East St. in Annapolis. Performance times are 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. There is a 7:30 p.m. performance on May 13. Tickets are $15 and $20. Networking cruise

Entrepreneur's Exchange will host a cruise aboard the Woodwind II from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15. Board at 6:15 p.m. at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel, 80 Compromise St. in Annapolis. The ship will sail past the U.S. Naval Academy and into the Chesapeake Bay. A free beer tasting and a cash bar will be available. Cruise is limited to 40 passengers.

Open house

Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) will hold an open house from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 14 at the Severna Park Health Association, 714 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. Event provides information on eating more healthfully and losing weight. Information: 410-544-0539.

Paca plant sale

Historic Annapolis Foundation hosts the annual William Paca Garden Plant Sale, featuring heirloom flowers, vegetables and herbs, native trees and shrubs, and some of the newest seeds offered in this year's catalog. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 12, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 13. All plants are grown by Historic Annapolis Foundation volunteers. Golfing for charity

The Rotary Club of Annapolis, Annapolis Lions Club, Annapolis Optimists Club, and Annapolis Masonic Lodge No. 89 will host a third annual charity golfing event on May 15 at the Eisenhower Golf Course in Crownsville. Registration is at 7:30 a.m., with announcements at 8:15 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The $100 fee includes golf, cart, continental breakfast, unlimited beverages and snacks on the course, and lunch. Registration is limited and must be submitted by Monday, April 30, to Matt Ficca, 162 Conduit St., Annapolis 21401. Make checks payable to "Annapolis Charities: Golfing for Charity" or to the service club of your choice. Proceeds will be donated to local charities and to projects the four sponsors support. Crab and ham

St. James' Parish will hold its annual Spring Crab Cake and Country Ham Dinner from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 19 at 5757 Solomons Island Road in Lothian. Menu includes homemade crab cakes, country and honey-baked ham, potatoes au gratin, coleslaw, rolls and biscuits. The event will also feature bake and garden shops, homemade ice cream, ox cart rides and guided tours of the church. Summer nature camps
