If you're looking for a great new alter ego, try joining Charm City Roller Girls. That's what Silver Spring native Lily Bradford did after frequently attending their events.

"I had been living in Baltimore for a few years, and felt disengaged from the city," she said. "I decided to put myself outside my comfort zone and challenge myself to learning a new skill set late in life." The Bolton Hill resident rolls on two local teams — during the home-team season, she's with the Mobtown Mods fighting for the Donaghy Cup, and right now she's hitting the road with Female Trouble. When she's not tearing up the rink, she's keeping the lights on for every show at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington as the assistant master electrician. Before her bout on Saturday with Female Trouble (5:30 p.m. doors; Du Burns Arena, 1301 S. Elwood St., Canton; $12,, Bradford, 30, caught b up on the story behind her derby name and her driving pet peeves.

Worst pet peeve? People who drive the same speed side by side on a two-lane highway like the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Drive on the right and pass on the left, people.

What song are you hating and/or loving right now? I recently picked up the debut album of a rockabilly band, the Screamin' Rebel Angels, and am enjoying discovering something new. I hate most anything that Rihanna sings. The music is fine but her voice seems so dispassionate and soulless.

Your worst habit? I'm an aggressive driver and have little patience for non-commuters clogging up the works.

Favorite part of being a Rollergirl? I love the challenges that the sport presents, like rapidly switching between playing offense and playing defense, keeping strategy and a 40-page rule set in my head while trying to relax and play on instincts Also, going fast and hitting people is lots of fun.

Story behind your Rollergirl name? My grandfather was a World War II fighter ace and he flew the F6F Hellcat in the Pacific theater.

Last movie you liked/disliked? I recently saw the original "Italian Job." Phenomenal! I regrettably sat through Tyler Perry's"Good Deeds." Oof.

Last great meal you had? The gazpacho at On The Hill [in Bolton Hill] is to die for. My family recipe is humbled by its glory.

Favorite place to get a drink in Baltimore? Cocktails: Bad Decisions in Fells Point. Beer: Brewer's Art in Mount Vernon.

Favorite and most loathed fashion statements? I'm fond of parasols and hats, but maybe that's just because I'm a pale redhead who burns easily! I hate the Shape-Up shoes. They don't actually help your butt look better, and your feet look much uglier.

Favorite thing about Baltimore? The accessibility of the arts scene.
