Md. brewer releases Wedding Alt: It's for weddings

May 02, 2012|By Richard Gorelick | The Baltimore Sun

Wedding Alt, a craft beer created for wedding receptions, is on its way.

Created by Frederick, Md.-based Brewer's Alley, the new beer will be released May 10. The bottles, which come in a poppy blue and gold carrier, can be customized with the bride and groom’s names.

In a news release announcing Wedding Alt, Brewer's Alley owner Phil Bowers said, "Couples are seeking out craft beers for their receptions and rehearsal dinners as a way of making their event more unique. We’re hoping they’ll tie the knot with Wedding Alt."

Wedding Alt was originally developed by Tom Flores of Brewer’s Alley and Monocacy Brewing Company to serve at his own wedding reception. He decided on an "altbier," or "old beer" style, originating from Duesseldorf, Germany.

Wedding Alt will be the first in an expanded line of seasonal and specialty beers Brewer's Alley hopes to bottle and retail in Maryland stores.
