Terps win, 4-2, on Montville's walk-off HR
Michael Montville hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Maryland (23-13, 6-10 Atlantic Coast Conference) to a 4-2 win over Duke (13-22, 5-11) on Friday night. With a runner on first, Montville squared to bunt but pulled back and drove a 1-1 offering high over the left-field wall. Maryland has won four games in its last at-bat this season, including two in the past three games. Terps pitcher Jimmy Reed allowed two runs in nine innings in his second career start; in his two starts, he has gone a combined 17 innings and surrendered two runs, while striking out 14 and walking two.
More baseball: Designated hitter Tyler McVicar homered twice for Elon (20-16) as the Phoenix scored in every inning and handed visiting Towson (17-17) a 17-9 loss.
Men's basketball: Mount St. Mary's announced the signing of Christian Crockett of Travis High in Houston and Shivaughn Wiggins of North Mecklenburg in Charlotte, N.C., for the 2012-13 school year. Crockett, a 6-foot-6 forward, averaged 10 points and six rebounds this season; Wiggins a 5-10 guard, averaged 25 points, five assists and three steals.
Women's track and field: Navy senior Jess Palacio was named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week for the sixth time in this outdoor season. ... Stevenson sophomore Julie Egonu (Maryvale Prep) was picked as the CAC Track Athlete of the Week, and Frostburg State sophomore Samantha Taylor was selected as the Field Athlete of the Week.
Tennis: Coppin State's Oleksiy Krylchuk and Morgan State's Duk Young-Park were named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic All-Conference men's second team. ... Salisbury senior Curtis Quandt and junior Elaina Iosue were named Capital Athletic Conference men's and women's Players of the Week, respectively.

NFL tackles leader Fletcher remains with Redskins
The Washington Redskins reached a deal Friday on a new contract with free-agent inside linebacker London Fletcher, ending a lengthy negotiation with the team's captain, who led the NFL in tackles last season. Fletcher tweeted "Redskins fans your captain is back! #HTTR # Resign59"; a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed that he and the team had come to terms.

Pimlico Race Course: Recent stakes winner Bold Affair is the 3-1 morning-line favorite to capture the six-furlong, $75,000 Primonetta Stakes for fillies and mares today on the main track at Pimlico Race Course. Bold Affair has won five of nine starts for trainer Howard Wolfendale. The Two Punch filly is two for three at Pimlico, including her maiden score in her debut and a third-place finish in the Miss Preakness Stakes last year. Her latest effort was a victory in Laurel Park's Conniver Stakes under Abel Castellano, who retains the mount.
