A 23-year-old man was shot and killed Friday night while eating crabs in a courtyard in the McCulloh Homes housing project, one of three shootings police were investigating Saturday.

Police responded to the call at 8:20 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Watty Court. Brandon Simms had been eating crabs when an unknown gunman walked up and opened fire without warning, police spokesman Donny Moses said. The suspect fled on foot to an unknown location.
Simms died at 1:45 a.m. at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
Officers responded around 11:15 a.m. Saturday to a shooting that occurred in the 2000 block of Rayner Avenue involving an adult male. The man, whose identity wasn’t immediately available, was shot in the stomach and taken to an area hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.
Police had no information on a suspect or motive, according to Moses.
