A 41-year-old man was fatally stabbed Tuesday evening in the Pumphrey area of northern Anne Arundel County, police said.

Northern District officers responded to the 300 block of Berlin Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. for a report of a stabbing and found the victim lying on the sidewalk with multiple stab wounds to the upper torso, according to police.

Romanda Lee Young, of the 200 block of Bishop Avenue, was transported to Harbor Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

During the investigation, detectives determined the victim was involved in an altercation with another man, which resulted in the stabbing, police said. The suspect fled the scene, according to police, but detectives have identified a person of interest and the incident is not believed to be a random act of violence.

No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Detective Shelly Guy at 410-222-3458.
