March 22, 2012|By John Fritze, The Baltimore Sun

Rep. Donna F. Edwards, a Prince George's County Democrat, endorsed John Delaney in Maryland's 6th Congressional District race on Thursday.

Edwards, who captured her seat in 2008 after beating former Rep. Albert Wynn in a Democratic primary, is an interesting get for Delaney, who has similarly tried to cast his as an "outsider" campaign.

Edwards is the only member of Maryland's delegation to endorse Delaney so far. Several others, including Southern Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer, have either backed his leading opponent, State Sen. Rob Garagiola, or held fundraisers for him.

The seat is currently held by Republican Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett, a 10-term Republican who seeking reelection in a more competitive district this year. The primary is set for April 3.
