George Flaviano
Digital Harbor, junior
Flaviano won the 300 at the Class 3A state indoor meet and ran on the victorious 1,600 relay to help Digital Harbor finish fourth overall. He leads a strong group of sprinters and middle-distance runners that make the Rams tough to beat.
Cyrus Jones Jr.
Gilman, senior
He's headed to Alabama to play football, but Jones will give the Greyhounds plenty of help on the track this spring. Jones is so versatile that coach Johnnie Foreman said he can use him in the long jump, triple jump, 100 and 200, plus a few relays.
Will Meadows
Gilman, senior
Meadows helped Gilman rally from a 59-point deficit to win the MIAA indoor title over Mount St. Joseph. He set a record in winning the 1,600 and has been one of the area's top distance runners the past few years.
Peter Merritt
Gilman, senior
A multitalented athlete, Merritt played a big role in Gilman's winning the MIAA indoor championship. He won the 800, took second in the high jump and ran anchor on the 1,600 relay team that won the final event to give the Greyhounds the title.
Ian Miles
Mount St. Joseph, senior
Miles is one of the area's most talented athletes. He can help the Gaels in sprints, hurdles and field events and run in relays — leading to lots of points.
Sam Pershall
Severna Park, junior
Pershall is coming off a strong indoor season. He had one of the state's top times in the 1,600 and won the 800 and 1,600 in the Anne Arundel County title meet.
Timmy Usher
Reservoir, junior
Usher had a breakout season indoors, capping it with a strong performance at the Class 3A state meet. In addition to running in relays, he won the 500 and took second in the 800.
Tim Virostek
Wilde Lake, junior
Virostek pulled off the tough task of winning the 800 and 1,600 at the state meet indoors this winter. His victory in the latter event in Class 3A was close, as he won by just four-hundredths of a second.
Michael Wegner
Loyola, freshman
Wegner had a spectacular season in cross country and ran well again in the distance races indoors, easily taking the MIAA's 3,200 and finishing third in the 1,600. Wegner will be one of the top 10 distance runners in the state as a sophomore next year.
