March 15, 2012|By Dan Connolly | The Baltimore Sun

Lefty Brian Matusz’s strong spring continued Thursday with an impressive performance against a Detroit Tigers lineup that included all its big guns.

Matusz threw four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while hitting a batter. Matusz struck out six batters, mixing in nasty off-speed pitches with a fastball that was clocked between 91 and 93 mph.

He struck out Alex Avila twice and Prince Fielder, Austin Jackson and Delmon Young once.

In his past two spring games, Matusz has thrown a combined eight scoreless innings, allowing just five hits while fanning 10.
