Navy women's lax gets record 8th win in row

Junior attack Jasmine DePompeo's season-high eight points Monday led the Navy women's lacrosse team to its program-record eighth straight win, a 19-8 nonconference victory over visiting Iona (4-3). DePompeo had three goals and five assists for the Mids (8-1). Freshman Loren Generi and Kathy Young each registered hat tricks, and sophomore attack Aimee Gennaro and senior attack Danielle Vivonetto scored two goals apiece.

More women's college lacrosse: Esther Rufolo scored back-to-back goals in the second half to give host Mount St. Mary's (1-5) the lead, and senior Jen Semler (Perry Hall) grabbed two draw controls late in the match to help secure a 13-10 nonconference victory against Longwood (1-4). ... Junior attacker Corinne Ziccardi (Loch Raven) scored four goals and assisted on two others as Washington College (2-1) rolled to a 17-12 win over Montclair State (2-2) in a nonconference game in Myrtle Beach, S.C. ... Maryland football: Thirteen seniors from last season's team will work out for professional scouts Wednesday on campus. Cameron Chism, Tim Downs, Webb Dulin, Anthony Green, Maurice Hampton, Desmond Haynes, Trenton Hughes, Tony Logan, Quintin McCree, Davin Meggett, Daniel Thomas, Ronnie Tyler and Shaquan Virgil will take part in drills including the vertical jump, broad jump, bench press, 60-yard shuttle and 40-yard dash.

Varsity boys basketball: McDonogh forward Kayel Locke has committed to UNC-Greensboro. The first-team All-MIAA A Conference selection picked the Spartans over Appalachian State, Monmouth, Central Connecticut, Holy Cross and Tennessee Tech.
