The Glenmont Tennis League is a summer recreational tennis league for adult women. Meet new players and just have fun. Applications are due by April 1. For an application, email or call 410-730-6565.

Parents can register their children for the Howard County recreation department's spring and summer tennis programs Sat., March 11 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Meadowbrook facility, 5001 Meadowbrook Lane, Ellicott City.


The Cindy LaRue League, an informal co-rec softball league, is looking for players age 19 and older —especially couples and women — from all parts of Howard County. This is slow-pitch, non-competitive softball played on Sunday afternoons at Wilde Lake Middle School from late April to August. Athletic skill not required. Everyone plays. The Ellicott City Patriots Cheer and brand new poms squad is looking for head coaches, assistant coaches, teen coaches, competition coaches, tumbling coaches, stunt coaches, dance coaches, fitness trainers and administrative helpers.

Pre-registration for the Ellicott City Patriots Football, Cheer and Poms Squard is March 17, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Howard County Recreation and Parks headquarters, 7120 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia.


The Howard County Junior Striders spring track registration is open. Practice starts March 26 and will be held Monday and Thursday evenings through May 21. There are two locations — sprinters and field event athletes born 2005 and before will practice at Oakland Mills, distance runners born in 2005 and before and all participants born in 2007 or 2007 will practice at Atholton. Booster camps

The River Hill Boosters are sponsoring summer sports camps at River Hill High School. The camps are designed to help young athletes improve their fundamental athletic skills. Weekly camps begin June 18 and run from 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. Over 20 different camps are offered including football dance and an Allied Sports camp. The Maryland Exiles Youth Rugby team is holding tryouts through the month of March. Experienced and inexperienced players are welcome to join the Exciles in their quest for a third straight Potomac Rugby Union League Championship. The team is open to all public, private or home schooled students in or near Montgomery County. Potential players and interested parents can view the team's website at Call 301-693-4123.


March 27, the county rec department will kick off another season of Adult Co-Rec Football. Games will take place on Tuesday nights between 6:15 and 10:30 p.m. The season consists of eight game, plus playoffs. All teams participate in the playoffs. Fee: $285 (per team, plus $30 weekly due to officials). The registration deadline is March 1st.

The inaugural Adult Co-Rec Football Tournament will take place on the weekend of June 30 -

July 1, 2012. Games will run from 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. The fee is $200 per team with a 3 game minimum guarantee. The registration deadline is June 1st.

For both the Spring League and the Summer Tournament, all games will be held on Howard County turf fields. Officials are contracted from the Maryland Independent Football Organization which handles youth, High School, and collegiate football.
