Five stabbed in Edgewood Saturday night

March 04, 2012

Five men between the ages of 17 and 22 told the Harford County Sheriff's Office that they were stabbed by an unknown group of men shortly before midnight Saturday as they were walking in the 1600 block of Meadowood Drive toward a friend's house in Edgewood.

Shortly before midnight, deputies responded to the 400 block of Meadowood Drive for a report of a stabbing with multiple victims that had occurred in the 1600 block of Meadowood Court. When deputies arrived, they found a 19-year-old, who had been stabbed multiple times in his torso. A second victim, a 22-year-old, who was also stabbed in his upper torso, was rendering aid to the first victim. While deputies were assisting the first two victims, a third stabbing victim, an 18-year-old, approached deputies and medical personnel on scene. He also had been stabbed in his upper torso.

The victims told deputies that while walking from a gas station in the 1700 block of Hanson Road toward a friend's house in the Windsor Valley neighborhood, they heard a group of males call out to them, "at which time they ran over and someone in the group began stabbing the victims," the sheriff's office reported. The suspects fled in an unknown direction.

"The incident described does not appear to be a random act of violence," the sheriff's office reported.

While the deputies were still on the scene, a fourth victim, a 17 year-old male who suffered a minor cut to his arm, approached the deputies on scene and told deputies he received his injuries from an unknown group of black males who had fled the scene.

The first three victims were transported by ambulance to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. The fourth was transported by ambulance to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air.

At 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, a fifth victim, a 21 year-old, suffering from a stab wound to his lower torso, was found at Franklin Square Hospital in Essex. The victim told police that his injuries occurred in Edgewood. Investigators determined that the victim's injuries may be connected to the multiple stabbings that occurred in the 1600 block of Meadowood Court in Edgewood.

At this time, all five stabbing victims are reported to be in stable condition.

Anyone with information in connection with the crime is asked to contact Det. Brian Potts of the Harford County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division at 410-836-5081.
