Apple Inc.'s iPad 3 expected to debut March 7 (Apple Inc. )
It's that time of year again -- the time when Apple gathers a gaggle of handpicked reporters and bloggers to unveil a big new gadget.
It's happening March 7th again -- the unveiling of the latest iPad. Who knows if it will be called the iPad 3, or maybe the iPad 2S?
I'm expecting a faster device and a way-nicer touch screen. The touch display will probably burn your retinas as you stare into it. (That's a joke, not a product warning.)
Here's what people around the tech web are saying about the iPad 3:
* ZDNet has a good breakdown of predictions and expectations.
* InformationWeek dissects the Apple invitation to media with a fine-tooth jigsaw.
* Prices falling for new and used iPad 2s? (I sold my iPad 2 about a month ago to get a good price so I have more to spend on the 3.)
* Big news for mobile broadband geeks: the iPad 3 is rumored (by the WSJ) to be able to run on Verizon and AT&T's 4G/LTE networks. So, expect some super-fast mobile broadband speeds. (As an aside, my first iPad was a 3G, but I hardly used the network and stayed almost entirely on Wi-Fi. My iPad 2 was Wi-Fi only and I was fine. So, for some users, unless you're doing some heavy traveling and usage outside the home/office/coffee shop, a Wi-Fi iPad should suffice.)
