Ten freshmen made their college debuts, and rookies McPartland, Megan Douty and Erin Collins combined for eight of the Terps' 19 draw controls on the day. "I was very pleased with our performance today," Maryland coach Cathy Reese said. "You can't control the weather. We talked about being ready for anything, and the girls stepped on the field and had a good time today. We saw some good stuff from everybody, and that's always the way you want to start the season as a coach." Five of William & Mary's eight goals came on free-position shots. The Terps' defense caused seven turnovers and scooped nine ground balls. Maryland returns to action at 4p.m. Thursday against visiting Delaware. Admission will be free.
