Valentine's Day is coming to the Avenue, and Hampden restaurants are posting their love menus.
Galen Sampson at The Dogwood has come up with a special Valentine's menu, available as either a $62 four course dinner or piece by piece.
The special Valentine's menu which is available beginning Friday, begins with American caviar on corn blini and baked Chesapeake oysters stuffed with crabmeat. The main course is a surf and turf, featuring a whole-roasted Creekstone beef tenderloin and a butter-poached lobster tail. For dessert, Valrhona chocolate devil's food cake with Chantilly cream and gingered clementine compote.
Sampson's new a la carte menu, which debuts also on Friday, will be available throughout the five-day Valentine's weekend at The Dogwood.
Down the Avenue at Corner BYOB, Chef Bernard Dehaene has come up with a four-course Valentine's Day menu. The cost is $69. First course choices include oyster on the half shell with pomegranate sorbet, duck confit risotto and pork cheeks with polenta, brandy-macerated cherries and chocolate sauce, and the second course is a salad.
The entree selections include grilled lamb loin, roasted duck breast with bacon hash and Jack Daniels-flambeed pepper steak with potato "tots." Dessert is a Belgian chocolate mousse enveloped around passion fruit mousse heart, Grand Marnier injected strawberries dipped in chocolate with creme anglaise or a cheese plate.
Grano Emporio, right off the Avenue on Chestnut, has put together an a la carte Valentine's Day menu, which it will be offering alongside its everyday dinner menu. On the Valentine’s menu, a roasted red pepper bisque; an insalata romantica with bibb lettuce, Gorgonzola, beets and strawberry vinaigrette; and for the entrees, lobster ravioli with Cognac sauce, grilled bronzini or osso buco.
Meanwhile, down the Avenue, Anisha Jagtap is putting together a five-course tasting menu for Valentine's Day at the Baltimore Burger Bar. The $25 menu will be offered on Feb. 21 at two seatings, 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
