Meet the governor

Sun forum will give readers a chance to interact with Md. newsmakers

February 05, 2012

Gov. Martin O'Malley has certainly given Marylanders a lot to talk about: gas taxes, gay marriage, income tax hikes for top earners, wind power, septic restrictions, taxes on apps and online purchases and a stepped-up role in national Democratic politics. And that's just in the last couple of weeks.

At The Sun, reporters and editors have the chance to interact with the governor and other newsmakers and to ask the questions we think the public needs answers to. This month, we want to give our readers the same opportunity.

On Wednesday, Feb. 15, The Sun will hold its inaugural Newsmakers Forum with Governor O'Malley as the featured guest. The format will be similar to the meetings The Sun's editorial board regularly holds with Maryland leaders, but this time, you will be invited to participate and ask questions.

The event, which is scheduled to run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Sun building in downtown Baltimore, is free and open to the public, but space is limited, so reservations are required. Sign up at baltimoresun.com/forum. Those who can't attend the event in person can still participate. We will broadcast a livestream of the event on baltimoresun.com, and readers can submit questions in advance by sending them to talkback@baltimoresun.com. Please include Newsmakers Forum in the subject line.
