A Sparks woman was killed early Saturday after her car struck a guard rail in Cockeysville.

Baltimore County police Sgt. Benjamin Yohe said that Tamara Sue Miller-Portesky, 48, was driving north on York Road at about 2:30 a.m.

Shortly after going through the intersection at Thornton Mill Road, the 2003 Ford Explorer crossed the center line and rammed into the guard rail. Upon impact, Miller-Portesky was ejected from the vehicle, and she was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries.

Yohe said police don't know why she lost control of her automobile. The investigation is continuing.
