Ravens lose two coaches to Indy, hire Martindale

Former Broncos defensive coordinator will coach Ravens' linebackers

February 01, 2012|By Jeff Zrebiec

As expected, former Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano is taking a few coaches with him to Indianapolis.

Pagano, who was hired as the Colts' head coach just four days after the Ravens' season-ending loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game, has hired Marwan Maalouf as his special teams coach and Roy Anderson as his safeties coach.

Maalouf spent the past four seasons as the Ravens' assistant special teams coach while Anderson officially joined the team's coaching staff as a defensive assistant in April 2009.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team could announce some coaching hires tomorrow. One of those hires will be Don "Wink" Martindale as their new inside linebackers coach. That position became open when Dean Pees was promoted to defensive coordinator.

Martindale was the Denver Broncos' defensive coordinator in 2010 and he interviewed for the Oakland Raiders head coaching job before the 2009 season.

The Denver Post first reported the news of Martindale's hiring.
