A fourth movie screen is coming to Hampden's Rotunda Cinemas.

The additional screen, which will accommodate an audience of just over 100, should be ready by early May, said Ira Miller, a veteran exhibitor who has been operating the theater since May 2009. He signed the agreement with the mall's owners, New Jersey-based Hekemian & Co., earlier this week, he said.

"We finally made the deal and signed it," said Miller, who has been talking about adding a fourth screen for over a year. "It's finally going to happen."

The theater is expanding into space that, until last year, was occupied by the Tomlinson Craft Collection. Miller said he hopes to begin work on construction within the next few weeks, as soon as he receives the necessary permits.

The current Rotunda has a capacity of 360.

Miller, who took the Rotunda from a two-screen to a three-screen cinema in September 2010, said he also plans to open a coffee house in the new space.
