No injuries or delays as private jet overshoots BWI runway

No injuries, delays reported

A small Gulfstream private jet overshot a runway Monday night at Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport, causing no injuries to the two people aboard and no delays to commercial flights.

Jonathan Dean, a spokesman for the Maryland Aviation Administration, said the incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on the general aviation runway, which is not used by much larger, commercial planes.

Dean said the Gulfstream came to a stop in grass and as of 7:30 p.m. was stuck, with some damage to its landing gear. Firefighters and rescue crews raced to the aircraft but Dean said the pilot and passenger did not have to be treated or be taken to a hospital.

Federal authorities are investigating the accident, Dean said. He had no other details on the people aboard the plane or where it was coming from.
