Coppin State beats Hampton, 73-70

Tony Gallo scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half, helping Coppin State overcome an eight-point deficit on its way to a 73-70 win over Hampton on Saturday night.

The Eagles (10-11, 5-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) trailed 29-26 at halftime and twice trailed by eight points in the second half before rallying. Coppin led by one to three points over the final minute of play. It marked the first time all season the Eagles have won a game in which they trailed at the half after dropping all nine previous games in which they were behind.

Coppin State also received 16 points from Michael Harper and 14 points from Logan Wiens.

Mount St. Mary's 81, Sacred Heart 80, 2OT: Josh Castellanos (19 points) hit two free throws in the final seconds to lift the visiting Mount (5-16, 3-7 Northeast Conference) over the Pioneers (10-13, 4-6).

The Mount scored the final five points of the game to earn the victory.

Norfolk State 76, Morgan State 59: The host Spartans (16-6, 8-0 MEAC) went on a 25-4 run in the first half to hand the Bears (5-13, 3-4) their second loss in the past three games.

Bucknell 66, Navy 51: The host Midshipmen (3-18, 0-7 Patriot League) trailed most of the game and the Bison (17-6, 7-0) won their ninth straight. Worth Smith had 16 points for Navy.

North Carolina A&T 91, UMES 66: The visiting Hawks (4-15, 1-5 MEAC) never led and trailed by as many as 36 points.

Percy Woods had 16 points for UMES, which shot 28.6 percent from the field in the first half.

Bowie State 84, Lincoln 76, OT: The visiting Bulldogs (15-3, 7-2 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Assocation) outscored the Lions (8-12, 3-6) 14-6 in overtime. Darren Clark and Byron Westmorland combined for 42 points, 22 and 20, to power Bowie.

Washington College 65, McDaniel 62: Kevin Breslin and Kevin Cunningham scored 15 points, and the visiting Shoremen (13-6, 9-3 Centennial) beat the Green Terror (7-12, 4-8).

The win was Washington's first at the Gill Center since a 71-64 victory on Jan. 26, 2005.

Frostburg State 73, Stevenson 68: Troy Dockett scored 25 points and the host Bobcats (10-10, 7-4 CAC) held off a late rally by the Mustangs (4-16, 1-10).

Mary Washington 67, St. Mary's 65: The host Eagles (15-5, 10-1 CAC) took a two-point first-half lead and matched the Seahawks (14-6, 8-3) basket for basket in the second half.

Nick Laguerre had a game-high 20 points for St.Mary's.

Muhlenberg 58, Johns Hopkins 54: The visiting Mules (12-7, 6-6 Centennial) went on a 13-2 run midway through the second half to beat the Blue Jays (10-9, 6-6) at the Wall-O'Mahoney Game.

Wesley 65, Salisbury 60: Mike Atkins scored 16points and a second-half rally fell short for the host Sea Gulls (10-9, 3-7 CAC).

Scranton 58, Goucher 49: The host Gophers (3-16, 0-9 Landmark Conference) failed to protect a halftime lead against the Royals (14-6, 7-2).

York 72, Hood 63: The visiting Spartans (13-7, 8-3 CAC) maintained a double-digit lead in the second half to beat the Blazers (12-8, 4-7).
