Bermuda 'Pink Sale' offers half off hotels

What's the deal: Six hotels have jumped in on Bermuda's "Pink Sale," offering a 50 percent discount off bookings made by Feb. 3 for stays through April.

The island isn't hot then. Rather it's quite pleasant, with average highs in the 70s and lows around 60. And you don't have to worry about hurricanes, as with later in the year. There's no rainy season as with points south.

Bermuda is an easy hop off the East Coast, less than 90 minutes by air from Baltimore.

Bermuda can satisfy many lusts, from great food to history that parallels the early days of the United States, to a desire to simply plant oneself on that pink sand.

What are the savings: If you've ever priced resorts in Bermuda, you'll probably be happy with the half-off rates. For example, rates at the Fairmont Southhampton are $129.50 per night, instead of the usual $259.

Participating hotels include Grotto Bay Beach Resorts & Tennis Club, Coco Reef Bermuda, Coral Beach & Tennis Club, The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, The Fairmont Southampton and the Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa.

What's the catch: Requires a four-night minimum stay.

Some hotels require guests to prepay for one night, with the payment being nonrefundable.

At least one hotel requires a Saturday night stay and another hotel has a couple of black-out dates.
