Baltimore's Rome Cee drops 'Something Beyond' video

First offering from the local MC's forthcoming mixtape

While Baltimore rapper Los seems ready for his close-up because his style and delivery fit in well with the times, Rome Cee continues to carve out his gritty throwback lane.

Rome's latest video, "Something Beyond," is the first clip from his forthcoming album/mixtape "The Grey Area." "Something Beyond," directed by 87Conceptions, recalls the anti-flossy days of Wu-Tang Clan. It's a palette cleanser from the flashy MCs more concerned with snapback hats than tight rhymes. As with most Rome tracks, he turns the mirror on himself, wondering how his experiences will shape his future. The haunting, twinkling beat was produced by Baltimore's August Flight Gordon.

"The Grey Area," Rome Cee's follow-up to last year's excellent "The Extra Mile," is scheduled to drop in mid-February.

Watch the video for "Something Beyond" above. Some of the lyrical content features — uh oh — curse words, but it's pretty clean compared to most modern-day rap.
