One person has died and three others are injured following a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Cockeysville, police said.

Aaron Nathaniel McCoy Jr., 20, of the 4000 block of Cedardale Road in Baltimore, was killed when he drove into oncoming traffic while trying to elude police, who suspected him in a burglary, according to a statement Tuesday evening from Baltimore County Police.

Around 2:30 p.m., police responded to a burglary in the 3200 block of Vance Road in Monkton and received a report that the burglars might be driving a gray Honda Accord. An officer saw a vehicle matching the car's description and attempted to pull the car over, but the driver did not comply and aviation patrol officers began following the car from the air.

Shortly after 3 p.m., a passenger in the Honda bailed from the car near the intersection of Dulaney Valley and Merrymans Mill roads, south of Jacksonville. Police officers pursued him on foot and took him into custody, the statement said.

McCoy continued to drive the Honda down Dulaney Valley, and while attempting to pass an SUV, collided with an oncoming pickup. He then crashed into a telephone pole.

McCoy was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV, which was also struck in the accident, and two people in the truck were treated for minor injuries, police said.

Both the crash and the burglary are still under investigation.
