Call for artists

Artists of all ages who have disabilities and are county residents are invited to submit artwork to the 2012 Artists With Disabilities Art Exhibit. Showing will feature more than 20 works. An opening night reception will be held April 19 at the Arundel Center, 44 Calvert St. in Annapolis. Following the reception, selected artwork will be on display through June 15.

Glen Lutheran Church, 106 Carroll Road, Glen Burnie, will host a community forum for residents of the Glen Gardens neighborhood at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24. Speakers include Mark Chang of the county executive's office, Joannie Casey of the Department of Planning and Zoning, and Barbara Moeller, president of the Glen Burnie Improvement Association. Community will have an opportunity to their neighbors and bring questions, comments, concerns and ideas on improving the quality of life in the neighborhood. Information: 410-766-6534.


Asbury Town Neck United Methodist Church, 429 Asbury Drive in Severna Park, will host a "Pre-Super Bowl Fiesta" on Sunday, Jan. 29, following the 10 a.m. worship service. Fiesta will include a buffet of Super Bowl favorites with desserts, a chili-cook-off, hot wing cook-off, Ravens-Steelers Trivia face-off, Super Bowl Playoff winner's face-off and games. The Annapolis Horticulture Society meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at St. Anne's Parish Hall, 199 Duke of Gloucester St. in Annapolis. Michael Raupp speaks on "Good Bugs and Bad Bugs." Oyster roast

The 2nd annual Annapolis Oyster Roast and Sock Burning will take place from noon to 4 p.m. March 24 at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second St. General admission is $25; $5 per child 13-18; free for children 12 and younger; VIP admission is $40 per adult and includes a commemorative T-shirt and special oyster dish tastings from competing area restaurants. Polar Bear Plunge

The 16th annual Polar Bear Plunge will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Sandy Point State Park, 1100 E. College Parkway in Annapolis. Admission is free to spectators, plungers must raise $50 in pledges. Information:


Tickets are on sale for the Rotary Club of Annapolis' annual "Black Tie and Diamonds" event March 3 at the Westin Annapolis Hotel on Westgate Circle in Annapolis. Gala includes a cocktail hour, silent and live auctions, a raffle, dinner and dancing to the music of NightLife. Tickets are $150 per person, $1,500 for a table of 10. Murder mystery

Capitol Steps

Tickets are on sale for a performance by the Capitol Steps, a musical theater troupe from Washington, being held at St. John's College in Annapolis to raise money for student aid. Show includes a review of songs and spoofs that ridicule public figures across party lines. The performance, followed by a reception, will be held at 8 p.m. March 3 in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium, 60 College Ave. Tickets are $55 in advance; $60 at the door ($35 tax deductible).
