'Murder by Misadventure'

'The Spitfire Grill'

Auditions for the Colonial Players' production will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, and 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at 2132 Reynard Court in Annapolis. Roles are available for four women ages 20-70 and three men, ages 20-50. Email for more information.

The Capitol Steps

Tickets are on sale for a performance by the Capitol Steps, a musical-theater troupe from Washington, being held at St. John's College in Annapolis to benefit student aid. Show includes a review of songs and spoofs that ridicule public figures across party lines. The performance, followed by a reception, will be held at 8 p.m. March 3 in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium, 60 College Ave. Tickets are $55 in advance; $60 at the door ($35 tax deductible).

Luncheon series

The Captain Avery Museum's Winter Luncheon Series kicks off at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 1418 E. West Shady Side Road, with Mary Ann Jung doing her improvisation of Rosie the Riveter. MLK Memorial Breakfast

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Anne Arundel Community College's Jenkins Gymnasium, 101 College Parkway in Arnold. Speaker will be Rep. Elijah E. Cummings. Tickets are $35; $350 for a table of 10. Doors open at 7:30 a.m., event begins at 8 a.m. Proceeds help to maintain the Rev. Winter registration

Registration is under way for winter session classes offered by Anne Arundel Community College at the seven senior activity centers operated by the Department of Aging and Disabilities. Classes begin this week and a variety of courses are available. For a schedule, go to the senior center you wish to attend or online at and click on a center for its list of courses.

'Operation Paperback'

This nonprofit organization collects gently used books nationwide and sends them to American troops deployed overseas. Since 1999, more than 1.3 million books have been shipped to military personnel around the world. Interested people can go to to learn more about the program. Register your bike

The Annapolis Police Department is sponsoring a bicycle registration program. The owner's name, address, phone number and the bike's serial number, manufacturer and color are recorded in the department's database. Registration is available to any Annapolis resident.
