January 04, 2012|By Matt Vensel

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month after recording five sacks and forcing four fumbles in four games in December and one in January.

Suggs, who has garnered NFL Defensive Player of the Year chatter, had sacks in three of the Ravens’ five games during that span, including three in a 24-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He also forced Colts quarterback Dan Orlovsky to fumble three times in the Dec. 11 victory.

For that performance, Suggs was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for a third time in 2011.

He also had a sack and forced a critical fumble in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the season finale.

Suggs had 14 sacks during the regular season, and his seven forced fumbles were a franchise record.
