Cyrus Jones named first-team All-American by RivalsHigh

Cyrus Jones added yet another honor to his football portfolio Wednesday when the Gilman star was named a first-team RivalsHigh All-American.

Jones, the only player from Maryland selected, was chosen as a utility player.

Here's the blurb from Dallas Jackson, the senior analyst for RivalsHigh who picked the squad:

"Jones, who has elevated his game every year, was a standout player at Gilman. He caught 39 passes for 635 yards and six touchdowns. He rushed for 948 yards and 13 scores. He has five interceptions on defense and added four scores in the return game. There is not much more he could have accomplished as an individual while leading the team to a Conference A title."

The All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year will play in the Under Armour All-America game Jan. 5 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Last week, Jones was named an ESPNHS first-team All-American at cornerback (teammates Brian Gaia and Henry Poggi earned third-team honors on that list), and he was also chosen as a second-team All-American by Sports Illustrated.

Jones has still yet to decide on a college, but Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Maryland are his final five.
