A uniform manufacturer warned state regulators Thursday that it planned to lay off 59 workers at its Western Maryland plant.

The reductions at the Fechheimer Brothers Co. facility in the Garrett County town of Grantsville are slated to be completed by March 1, according to the state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

Fechheimer, based in Cincinnati, makes uniforms for police, firefighters, umpires and a range of other professions.
