Bike-sharing welcome in Columbia

Thanks for Jessica Anderson's article on bringing bike sharing to Columbia ("Bike-sharing program on the table for downtown Columbia," Dec. 9). Columbia wants to go on two wheels.

Howard County would embrace the kind of bike sharing program that has been so successful in Washington. As a long time bike advocate and supporter, it was refreshing to read that Columbia is applying for a state grant to explore the possibility of introducing a similar program.

I and my fellow cyclists at the Bicycle Advocates of Howard County fully support this initiative. One important point that needs to be addressed is creating a bicycle infrastructure along our busy roadways to bring better, safe biking to Howard County.
