Ravens-Chargers to be flexed?

Sunday, Dec.18 game could be moved to afternoon

December 05, 2011|By Jeff Zrebiec

The Ravens may not face the Denver Broncos and their much-hyped quarterback Tim Tebow this season, but they could get overshadowed by him.

There is mounting speculation that the Ravens-San Diego Chargers will be flexed out of the prime-time 8:20 Sunday Night Football spot on NBC on Dec.18 in favor of the Broncos-New England Patriots game. A decision on the matter is expected to be made early this week.

It, of course, shouldn't be surprising not with Tebow becoming the talk of the NFL, the Patriots always a big national draw and the Chargers floundering badly this season.

If it happens, the Ravens-Chargers game at Qualcomm Stadium would probably be a 4:05 start on the East Coast.

There has also been some talk that the Ravens' regular-season finale at the Cincinnati Bengals on New Year's Day, scheduled for 1 p.m., could moved to a night game if it still carries heavy significance. However, that's a little premature at this point.
