The Anne Arundel County Council will hear from the public at its meeting tonight on a proposal that would levy a new fee on county residents designed to reduce and more effectively manage storm water run-off along the Chesapeake Bay.
The measure, proposed by Councilman Chris Trumbauer, would impose a $35 annual fee on residential property tax bills and $25 on condos and town houses; nonresidential properties would be assessed depending on square footage.
Trumbauer, an Annapolis Democrat, estimates the fee would generate about $10 to $12 million annually.
The Council is also scheduled to vote on a comprehensive zoning bill for the Pasadena and Severna Park areas.
The meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the council's chambers in downtown Annapolis, will also mark the first Council meeting since Councilman Daryl D. Jones, a Severn Democrat, was sentenced to five months in federal prison for failing to file his taxes. Jones has said he will attend.
