Police chase after hit-and-run ends in collision on beltway

Investigators have not released information on possible injuries or arrests

A police-involved chase that began in West Baltimore ended with a collision on the Baltimore Beltway near Park Heights Avenue, snarling early morning traffic.

According to Baltimore City police, officers responded at 6:22 a.m. Thursday to a call about a hit-and-run accident at Lombard and Gilmor streets in West Baltimore.

According to preliminary reports, officers chased a vehicle to the inner loop of the Baltimore Beltway, where it ran into a guard rail near Park Heights Avenue. Two lanes of the beltway's inner loop have been closed for much of the morning rush hour as police investigate.

Police did not immediately have information about the drivers, possible arrests or injuries at either the city or the beltway accidents.
