Providing genuine hospitality is the goal of all employees at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore on the Inner Harbor, no matter their job title.

Zachery Quarles' area of expertise is banquet services, where he has worked since the hotel opened 30 years ago.

"I really enjoy my customers," Quarles said. He added that he also enjoys his employer: "The Hyatt stands out."

Responding to the WorkplaceDynamics survey, employees said that they feel empowered and heard, and that the hotel's culture fosters independent decision-making. They also say management shows appreciation for jobs well done, and they boast of a "family" of employees that's hard to beat.

"Incredible people work at the Hyatt," said Nathalie Caillon Rytting, human resources director. "We all believe we are a family. We really do. And we treat each other like you would treat your own family, with dignity and respect."

Extensive training and a top leadership team headed by General Manager Gail Smith-Howard are also keys to the hotel's success, says Amir Blattner, rooms executive.

"We create memorable experiences and that's what the staff delivers on a daily basis," Blattner said. "It's part of our culture. It's not just a job, it's a way of life."
