Lights parade

The annual Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, in Annapolis. Event takes place rain or shine and concludes with a fireworks display. Among the entries this year are "Chesapeake Reindeer," "Holiday Star," "Doves of Peace," "Big Red Christmas," and "Santa, Rudolph and the Elves." Information:

Holiday poinsettias

Orders are being taken for poinsettias to benefit the Pets on Wheels program, in which volunteers and their pets visit residents of nursing homes, hospitals and assisted-living facilities. Red, white or pink flowers with gift sleeves can be purchased for $12.50 or three for $35. Plants will be available for pickup from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Pascal Senior Activity Center, 125 Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie. Group delivery available on request. Kids club holiday party

The Bowie Baysox will host a holiday party for members of Louie's Kids Club at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Medieval Times in Arundel Mills Mall. Tickets are free for club members with the purchase of an adult ticket. Space is limited and tickets must be ordered through Medieval Times online at by Wed. Dec. 7.

Art portfolio review event

High school juniors, seniors and college transfer art students are invited to meet with representatives from some of the highest-caliber art schools in the nation from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Anne Arundel Community College, 101 College Parkway in Arnold. In addition to local colleges, some the schools planning to attend are the Art Institute of Washington, Delaware College of Art and Design, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Santa Fe University, Savannah College of Art and Design, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Portfolios may include finished pieces, works in progress and sketchbooks. Laptops will be available for viewing digital images and digital media.

Baysox tickets

The Bowie Baysox offers a "Home For The Holidays" ticket package that features eight undated box seat tickets and a free Zach Britton bobblehead. Package is available at until Jan. 6 for $88 and an additional $5.95 for shipping and handling. To guarantee delivery before Christmas, orders must be placed by Wednesday, Dec. 14. Visits with Santa

'Little Women'

Donations needed

The Bowie Baysox have announced that Prince George's Stadium, 4101 Northeast Crain Highway in Bowie, will serve as a collection point for warm clothes donations in conjunction with Louie's Holiday Hope. Gently used winter coats and other warm clothing can be dropped off Monday-Friday between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Information:

Nominations sought

Each year the Rotary Club of Annapolis holds its "Black Tie and Diamonds" fundraiser to benefit a cause or organization. The 2011 event raised $68,100 for the Light House shelter, and the 2012 event, planned for March 3, will benefit the Anne Arundel County Public Library Foundation. Nominations are being sought from area 501(c)3 nonprofits, for consideration for the 2013 event.

Candidates should submit the following information:

•Copy of IRS 501(c)3 letter of determination for nonprofit status.

•List of current board of directors with titles.

•A statement of the nature of the organization and the intended use of funds from the Black Tie and Diamonds gala (five-page limit).

•A specific strategy on how the candidate organization will partner with the Rotary Club of Annapolis to sell tickets, raise funds, contribute to the pre-planning implementation, and clean up.
