Soroptimist International of Howard County Call for Applicants — Accepting applications for its Violet Richardson Award. Applicants should be 14-17-year-old girls who have performed noteworthy community service. Winner receives $300 and her selected charity $200. 2012 Women's Hall of Fame Call for Nominees — Sponsored by the Howard County Commission for Women. Honors Howard County women who have made significant contributions to Howard County, the State of Maryland or the nation through their profession and/or community service and who are models of achievement for tomorrow's female leaders. Nominees may be either living or deceased and must have lived in Howard County for at least 10 years. Howard County Arts Council Call for Artists — Seeking artists to participate in the annual Silent Auction Art Exhibit as part of the Arts Council's annual fundraising gala, Celebration of the Arts in Howard County. All 2-D, 3-D, and fine craft artists, ages 18 or older, residing, working or studying in Howard County, HCAC members and artists who have exhibited in Howard County in the last year are invited to submit. Visual artists working in all styles and media are invited to apply, including painters, sculptors, ceramicists, fiber artists, jewelers, and photographers. Artists will be selected by a jury panel who may also invite artists who are eligible to participate. Howard County Arts Council's 2012 Arts Scholarship — Awarding a minimum of $10,000 in scholarship funds to students entering college in the 2012-2013 academic year. Scholarships must be used for enrollment in an accredited college program for a degree in the arts. Awards will be made in the minimum amount of $1,000 and may be used for tuition and fees only. Review criteria will include artistic merit, demonstrated knowledge of an artistic discipline, commitment to a career in the arts, and a demonstrated track record of success in an academic setting. Soroptimist International of Howard County Call for Applicants — Seeking women head-of-household who want financial assistance to go back to school. This award in the amount of $1,250 will help a woman to obtain additional education, job skills and training.
