November 18, 2011

Morgan State (5-5, 4-3 MEAC) vs. Hampton (6-4, 4-3)

Time: 1 p.m.

Where: Armstrong Stadium in Hampton, Va.

Radio: 88.9 FM

Series: Norfolk State leads the series, 36-22-2

What's at stake: Morgan State will look to end a two-game losing streak with its regular-season finale against MEAC foe Hampton. The Bears fell at home last week 47-14 to Delaware State, which clinched its first-ever MEAC title. Morgan State controlled its conference destiny two weeks ago, but has had troubles on the defensive end. The Pirates are coming off a 42-6 win against Delaware State last week.

Key matchup: Morgan State coach Donald Hill-Eley said earlier this season that the decision to start true freshman quarterback Seth Higgins after two games changed the trajectory of the team. He's had his struggles. Last week he completed 12 of 31 passes for 131 yards, one touchdown and an interception. He faces a tough pass defense in the Pirates, who had six interceptions and two run back for touchdowns last week.

Players to watch: Hampton is also relying on a freshman quarterback in Bradford Hudson. The Chesapeake, Va., native threw two touchdown passes in a win a week ago and has completed 50 percent of his passes the past two weeks. Morgan State running back Travis Davidson had a 49-yard rushing touchdown last week, and led the Bears with 74 yards on just seven carries a week ago.
