Lecture

Breakfast with Santa

The annual "Breakfast and More with Santa" takes place Saturday, Dec. 3, at Wilde Lake Village Center in Columbia. The breakfast seating takes place at 8:30 a.m., with a special lunch seating at 11:30 a.m. Cartoons will be shown during both seatings, and each child will get a private visit and a photo taken with Santa. The "Secret Shop" will be open for children only, where Santa's elves will help children who want to buy inexpensive gifts for the family. Gift wrapping is free. Tickets are $5 per seat, no reservations, advance sales only; exact cash or check only, no credit cards. Craft shop

The Hickory Ridge Community Association holds a Holiday Craft Shop from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Hawthorn Center, 6175 Sunny Spring. Handcrafted items will be available. Free. Information: 410-730-7327.

Women's swim

The Columbia Association offers a Women's Only Swim Time program from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Columbia Swim Center, 10400 Cross Fox Lane. The pool is shallow, warmed to 80-82 degrees, guarded by female lifeguards and the windows are covered. Free for association members. Resident nonmembers with an association resident card pay $16 per visit, general admission is $25. Nonmembers are welcome to a free trial of two admissions. Art exhibits

•'Journeys' Mixed-media exhibit featuring the works of Jim Auerbach, Nihal Kececi, David Mullen, Mary Deacon Opasik, Ted Schroll and Tinam Valk runs through Jan. 1 in the Meeting House Gallery at the Oakland Mills Interfaith Center, 5885 Robert Oliver Place. English conversation The Howard County Public Library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, offers "Let's Get Together: English Conversation Club." It's a chance for those for whom English is a second language to practice speaking and understanding English in a group setting. The club meets at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.
