Each year the Rotary Club of Annapolis holds its "Black Tie and Diamonds" fundraiser to benefit a cause or organization. The 2011 event raised $68,100 for the Light House shelter, and the 2012 event, planned for March 3, will benefit the Anne Arundel County Public Library Foundation. Nominations are being sought from area 501(c)3 nonprofits, for consideration for the 2013 event.
Candidates should submit the following information:
•Copy of IRS 501(c)3 letter of determination for nonprofit status.
•List of current board of directors with titles.
•A statement of the nature of the organization and the intended use of funds from the Black Tie and Diamonds gala (five-page limit).
•A specific strategy on how the candidate organization will partner with the Rotary Club of Annapolis to sell tickets, raise funds, contribute to the pre-planning implementation, and clean up.

This nonprofit organization collects gently used books nationwide and sends them to American troops deployed overseas. The Annapolis Police Department is sponsoring a bicycle registration program. The owner's name, address, phone number and the bike's serial number, manufacturer and color are recorded in the department's database. Registration is available to any Annapolis resident.
