The Havre de Grace Arts Commission held our annual Children's Art Festival Oct. 1 at Tydings Park. John Smack of the Vulcan Corporation serves on the Havre de Grace Chamber of Commerce Board. I asked John if some of his men would volunteer to help our festival committee unload our trucks with arts supplies, put up our signs and banners and set up the tables for the various art projects for the day. Without hesitation John replied, "Yes we would be more than happy to help you with this project." On Oct. 1, at 8 a.m. sharp three gentlemen from Vulcan were at Tydings Park to help us set up the Festival. The men that volunteered that day were Donny Walker, Mark Hackman and Andy Bowman.

On Oct. 14, the Havre de Grace Chamber of Commerce held its annual bull roast. Again Vulcan stepped up to the plate and helped the committee set up the room for the bull roast. Vulcan continues to amaze me with service to the community. The men who helped with the set up for the bull roast are: Mark Hackman, Bob Keen, Pat Pieton, Jerry Greene, Tim Raley, Mike Poster and Chris Bowman.

Sometime ago I had a project with the Salvation Army and John Smack stepped up again and helped me with that project as well. They give countless hours to the Meadowvale Elementary School with product and manpower. Vulcan was recently honored by the Mayor and City Council with a proclamation for their fine service to the citizens of Havre de Grace.

Gentleman you are a fine example of what a volunteer is and what you give back to our Community enriches our lives and your continuous service to our organizations helps them meet their goals.

Thank you again for all your service. As the late Sen. Robert Hooper always stated, "You never feel better in life than when you reach down and pick up someone who needs help."
