Police have identified the body found Sunday in Hanover as a man reported missing from Montgomery County last week. Police are investigating his death as a homicide.

On Oct. 31, Montgomery County police said Manuel Enrique Diaz Gomez, 37, of the 9600 block of Mount Pisgah Road in Silver Spring was last in touch with his family on Oct. 27, and began a search for him.

At about 4 p.m. Sunday, a passerby notified Anne Arundel County Police that there was a body of a deceased man along Race Road near the intersection of Park Circle Drive in Hanover.

Anne Arundel County Police identified the body as Gomez, determined that he was missing from Montgomery County, and notified Montgomery County investigators.

Paul Starks, Montgomery County police spokesman, said Gomez's death involved "suspicious circumstances," but said he couldn't release more information about the case until officers receive an autopsy report from the Medical Examiner's office.
