Ice hockey

The Howard County high school ice hockey season kicks off on Mon., Nov. 14 at the the Gardens Ice House, in Laurel, with a 3:50 p.m. game between Atholton and River Hill Hawks.

Atholton won an exhibition game against Arundel, 12-2, with scoring by Zach Michels (goal, assist), Nicholas Bogdash (goal, two assists), Avery Shepherd (three goals, assist), Brandon Potter (goal), Eliot Tarash (goal, assist), Alec Mercelliott (goal), Alex Darnell (goal), Derek Potter (goal), Jake Mills (goal, three assists), Fergus Hall (goal, assist), Matt Haney (assist), Jason Pazulski (two assists) and Evan Davis (assist).

Taylor Abell (22:20 mins, 8 shots, 1 goal, 7 saves) and Tommy Pappas (22:40 mins, 7 shots, 1 goal, 6 saves) shared time in goal.

The Raiders outshot the Wildcats, 29-15. Atholton honored Ms. Heather Haffey before the game for her continued support of the Atholton ice hockey program. She received a Raiders No. 2 jersey and performed an official "drop the puck" ceremony.
