History program The Banneker-Douglass Museum, Maryland State Archives and Historic Annapolis present "Flee! Stories of Flight from Maryland in Black and White," an exhibition commemorating the 147th anniversary of the end of slavery in Maryland at the museum, 84 Franklin St. in Annapolis. A living-history performance from Historic Annapolis' Project Runaway and a discussion of the exhibition's creation by the archives' staff begins at 7 p.m. and concludes with a talk by historian Ira Berlin, who will share some of his views on the Underground Railroad and slavery in Maryland. Information: 410-216-6181.

Book sale The American Association of University Women's used-book sale will be held through Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Pasadena Shopping, 8151-D Ritchie Highway. Proceeds go to scholarships for women graduating from Anne Arundel Community College and moving on to a four-year university. Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. today, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. A "public pre-sale" will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Nov. 3, when a $10 fee allows patrons to make purchases before the opening. Also, Sunday is "Bargain Books by the Bag Sale." Discussion and book signing Lynn Abercrombie and her husband, Tom, traveled all over the world as photographers and writers for National Geographic Magazine.
